James loves teaching about both the artistic and professional sides of fiction and game design. With extensive experience as an acquiring editor, novelist, game designer, and creative director, James has taught classes on everything from fantasy worldbuilding and designing better monsters to breaking into the publishing industry and making your manuscript stand out from the slush pile. He's been an instructor, guest of honor, or panelist at dozens of seminars and conventions, including the Clarion West Writer's Workshop, Gen Con, Emerald City Comicon, Writing Excuses, PAX Unplugged, the Digipen Institute of Technology, the Cascade Writers Workshop, the Pacific Northwest Writers Conference, the Texas Library Association Conference, ICON South Africa, and more. He also loves doing school visits to help encourage the next generation of writers.
